Most young ballerinas dream of dancing "en pointe" before they even tie their very first pair of pointe shoesMany factors are involved in pointe readiness, including the strength of the legs, feet, and ankles.

Pre-pointe classes are often offered to ballet students who are not yet on pointe to further develop and strengthen the muscles necessary to go "en pointe".

Pointe technique encompasses both the mechanical and artistic aspects of pointe work. In particular, it is concerned with body alignment, placement of the feet and the manner in which a dancer transitions to and from en pointe. A dancer is said to have "good" or "proper" technique when in conformance with the best practices of pointe technique, which in turn are generally referred to as proper technique.

Ballet is required in order to take this class.
