What Are Costume Requirements? Costume requirements are the specific guidelines we set for what students wear for performances, recitals, competitions, and special events. These requirements may include details about clothing styl
e, color, fit, footwear, hair, and accessories.
Why Do We Have Costume Requirements? When all dancers are dressed according to the same guidelines, it allows the audience to focus on the performance rather than individual outfits. Uniformity helps the choreography shine and creates a beautiful, cohesive stage picture. Costumes are selected well in advance to allow time for ordering, alterations, and rehearsals. When requirements are followed, it helps prevent last-minute stress for families and staff.
How You Can Help Your Dancer. You play a vital role in your dancer's success by reviewing the costume information carefully, knowing what items are provided by the studio versus what you need to purchase, ordering items by the listed deadlines, ensuring costumes fit properly, and labeling all costume pieces.
